How to Stop Allergies Immediately Naturally by Blood Type

It is currently April which means it’s allergy season!  I don’t know about you, but I was coughing like crazy last week, and so were many of my math students. 

I thought that I was getting a cold so as soon as I felt pain in my throat, I took some medicine.  But surprisingly, the cough persisted even after the pain went away.  

My coworkers were saying that the coughing could have been due to allergies from pollen, and it may be true.  I looked up the allergies near me that triggered symptoms and I found that the main ones were ragweed, grass, mold, dust, dander and tree pollen. 

The funny thing is that I was never really affected by allergy symptoms growing up, so this coughing episode came as a surprise to me.

As an avid blood type dieter, I automatically thought back on how I’d been eating over the past few weeks to determine how nourished my immune system was.  I’d been making good enough food choices for my Type O blood, maybe eating a little higher on the carbs than I needed to be. 

But it is true that I have been eating a lot of restaurant meals which include hidden ingredients.  So I’m sure my immune system had not been the strongest it could have been to avoid allergy symptoms.

After a couple of days of some pretty serious coughing, I remembered that one of the Type O protocols for allergies is to drink Yerba Mate tea.  Thankfully I had some in my cabinet ready to use.  I sipped on a few cups of the tea and it worked great in soothing my throat and lungs.  And guess what!  The coughing went away in about two days!

Allergy Tips by Blood Type

If you are not familiar, the blood type diet is a set of four diets separated by the four major blood types A, B, O and AB. 

It was created by the naturopathic doctors, Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo and his father Dr. James D’Adamo, as they cared for their patients and observed stark contrasts in the way they responded to food in various areas, especially cellularly.  

What they concluded was that each blood type thrives on a specific diet, and the presence and severity of allergy symptoms is related to how well a person is sticking to their blood type diet.

Aside from food, there are herbs, vitamins, minerals and other supplements that are blood type specific.  Here are the herbs and vitamin recommendations for each blood type dealing with allergy symptoms.

Blood Type O

Type Os are affected the most by respiratory allergies and are most likely to suffer from asthma and hay fever.  

Several pollens contain lectins that stimulate histamines and cause allergy symptoms, like coughing, sneezing, itching and wheezing.  

It’s best if you support your immune system by avoiding wheat and corn.  Calm allergy symptoms with Yerba Mate tea, Stinging Nettle Leaf (away from meals) and/or Vitamin B5.

Blood Type A

Type As generally have a low reaction to environmental allergies, but usually experience asthma, or lung restriction, due to stress and high levels of cortisol.  

In addition, veering off the Type A diet and eating foods that include dairy contributes to mucus production and intensifies asthmatic symptoms.  

Small amounts of cultured dairy is better (eg. kefir and yogurt), and soy milk is best to limit mucus.  Balance your cortisol with Vitamin C, Stinging Nettle Leaf (away from meals) and B Vitamins (1, 5, 6 and 12).

Blood Type B

Type Bs are more susceptible to viral infections and lung inflammation, which feels like asthma.  These symptoms can be triggered by the consumption of chicken and corn, Type B avoid foods.  

Swap in lamb and cultured dairy (eg. kefir and yogurt).  Helpful supplements are MSM, to reduce inflammation in the lungs, and Vitamin B5.

Blood Type AB

Type ABs generally experience the least amount of allergy symptoms due to having an environmentally friendly immune system.  

If you do happen to experience some allergies, try Magnolia Flower capsules and Quercetin with meals.  In addition, make it a practice to eat according to your blood type.

These tips are super helpful and essential for your specific blood type.  If mixed up and taken by another blood type, they would not provide the allergy relief needed.  


To me, this is why the blood type diet is so important.  It’s because we are all different and have different needs.  The Blood Type Diet helps us narrow down those needs by factoring in our cellular make-up.

With that being said, we can all benefit from the healing properties of bromelain (pineapple enzyme) during this allergy season to modulate overall inflammation in our lungs and sinuses.
